The real reason Boeing's new plane crashed twice

Two Boeing airplanes have fallen out of the air and crashed in the past six months. On the surface, this is a technical failure. But the real story is about a company's desire to beat their rival.

Everyone points fingers at MCAS. The MCAS did its job. The sensors or lack of sensors did not.

You also have to blame the airlines because they wanted to save money on fuel even after the pilots warned them something was wrong with the new engines

So all Boeing had to do was increase the ground clearance on the 737 to accommodate for the larger engine and the two crashes may not have happened. How can Boeing guarantee the software update will not crash during operation.

Shocked. Did Boeing seriously fix bad flight dynamics with a bit of software and a sensor??? Is this the same company that designed and built the Jumbo and the Dreamliner?? Someone or some people in Boeing need to go to prison.

ONe thing thing that is left out that US pilots never crashed the 737 max. Is it true they didn't know about the MCAS? Or is it that they were so dependent on the computers they didn't know how to fly the the plane themselves w/o computer intervention. Something to think about and investigate.?

День назад
Turb0 Punda
Turb0 Punda

They wouldn't be flying if they couldn't fly it themselves. The autopilot is mostly used while the plane is stable and leveled at its cruising altitude so the pilots can relax a bit. Also you said they "wouldn't know how to fly the aircraft without computer intervention" when computers caused it in the first place.

Boeing couldn’t just install taller landing gear in order to raise the 737 to make room for the bigger engine instead?

I'm pretty sure they'd have to change other things to accompany the taller landing gear and moving the engines up was an easier fix

Companies can't just "end their rivalries" it's a business rivalry and that means they're fighting over customers and if you end it it would end with one of the companies going bankrupt or dyingor one of the companies surpassing the other by a large amount.

At 3:52, the training materials don't include the software because pilots are trained to correct a runaway trim condition by selecting the AutoStab cutout and manually trimming the plane, which is how MCAS receives its power.

This is exactly what 8 or 9 of pilots and engine inspectors were at DFW Airport were discussing near the restaurant at the airport that I was over-hearing with my friend Sarah way before any accident. The mechanics would also mention that, during inspection and review of engine servicing, there would always be buckets filled with O-rings, gaskets, lock-nuts and other parts that were new but not installed or used during the engine rebuild servicing at overseas contractor locations. The manuals were in English and many of the contract mechanics did not speak English and certainly did not read English but, in an effort to save money and increase profits for the American Airlines and Southwest Airlines and other airline companies, it was a "no brainer" to offshore the work to contract mechanics as they can be paid pennies on the dollar without any type of healthcare benefits needed. Oh well. When it comes to business decisions to maximise company profits at any price, it is apparent that human lives are taken into account and are irrelevant and inconsequential. All that really matters in or American Darwinian Capitalist Plutocracy is PROFIT above all things. Praise Be to the Free Market Economy.

Is this really BOEING ?? First they destroy the aerodynamics of an airplane, then they "counteract" this with a strange unreliable system ! I will NEVER fly in this unreliable and unpredictable Boeing max 8 ! IF it ever flies again, all airlines in the future have to clearly make people understand what they are going into - to give passengers a chance to say NO! A chance to survive!

3 дня назад
Sweetteawillie
Sweetteawillie

Who is going to force anyone to travel by air... to pay for a ticket? The FAA approved the 737MAX to fly without having pilots obtain new rype rating. The MCAS system was allowed to be a supplement for providing flight characteristics of the smaller engine aircraft. If anything, it was a lack of oversight to this system's potential problems, in my opinion.

WHERE WERE THE, FAA ENGINEERS, THAT APPROVED ALL THESE CHANGES? THEY WERE ASLEEP WHILE THEY LET BOEING DO ALL THE WORK AND TELL THEM IT WAS ALL GOOD. SO, THE FAA JUST BELIEVED BOEING AND LET IT GO. BOEING DID NOT INFORM THE FOREIGN BUYERS OF THE PLANE, OF THE PROBLEMS, SO THEY COULD GET THE TRAINING THEY NEEDED, TO KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT. PLUS, BOEING DID NOT NOT MAKE SURE THE NEW SOFTWARE WAS INSTALLED, APPROVED, AND TESTED TO WORK PERFECTLY, IN EVERY AIRCRAFT, AS IT WAS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO, AS WAS IT THE FAAs RESPONSIBILITY TOO. PLUS BOEING WAS CHARGING THE CUSTOMERS WHO BOUGHT THOSE FAULTY AIRCRAFT, FOR THE SOFTWARE, WHILE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDING THE FREE UPGRADE, TO MAKE THE AIRCRAFT AIRWORTHY. GREED! ALL THE BOEING OFFICIALS WHO ALLOWED THIS SHOULD ALL BE IN JAIL, FOR AT LEAST TEN YEARS, EACH !!!
